Welcome to Ara!

Below are the everyday resources you will be using to access your coursework and connect with your tutors and colleagues.

Network login

Your network login is the key to getting you started on your journey at Ara. Your login details will be emailed to the email address you specified on your enrolment form. It will look something like this:

Username: abc123

Password: A link will be provided to the self-service password reset page to create your password.

You will need access to both your personal email and the cell phone you specified on your enrolment form to change your password to something new. You can log in for the first time from any of these places:

  • A campus computer
  • Moodle (use your student email address e.g., abc123@arastudent.ac.nz)
  • MyAra (use your student email address e.g., abc123@arastudent.ac.nz)
  • outlook.com (use your student email address e.g., abc123@arastudent.ac.nz)

Distance learners: You can use either Moodle, MyAra or Outlook to log in for the first time. Distance learners in China use Moodle to log in for the first time.

Your password needs to be 12 characters long and can be a passphrase (a sentence rather than a random bunch of characters e.g. AraTimaruIsBest)

For more information on resetting your password visit https://pwd.ara.ac.nz/

Once you have changed your password, you can use the Wi-Fi on campus, MyAra, Moodle and access your student email.

You will have email, MyAra and Moodle access 21 days before your course begins.

MyAra

You will use this every day to get details on your courses, emails, timetable and helpful information about your studies and resources available online and on campus.

MyAra is available on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store or use https://myara.ara.ac.nz/ on a web browser.

To log in, use your student email address e.g., abc123@arastudent.ac.nz

Go to MyAra

Moodle

Moodle is where most of your learning resources will be provided to you by your tutor. This is also where you will submit your assignments.

Once you have access to MyAra, you will be able to access Moodle as well. When you log in you may not see any courses. Access to your Moodle courses for studying will only be available a maximum of 14 days before a course's start date and no earlier. However, some tutors will only make the course available on the first day of a course. Please query this with your tutor if you do not have access and think you should have.

Please go to https://moodle.ara.ac.nz/ and type in your username, e.g., abc123@arastudent.ac.nz and your changed password

Go to Moodle

Student Portal

The Student Portal will allow you to update personal and contact details, check results, enrolment status and timetable. Please note any timetable information shown in the Student Portal may change.

To access the Student Portal, go to https://ebsportal.ara.ac.nz.

Your username is usually in this format: FirstName.LastName

Select “Forgot Password” and enter your username or personal email address to receive a password reset link.
