The Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Management is a Level 8 qualification designed for individuals who’ve completed a bachelor’s degree in business or a related field and wish to further their expertise in applied management.
This advanced qualification equips you with both practical skills and strategic knowledge to thrive in leadership and management roles. With a focus on real-world applications, the programme helps you tackle complex business challenges and enhances your ability to succeed in a competitive global market.
It’s a flexible and versatile programme, supporting your professional development while offering clear pathways to advanced study and career progression in applied management. You can complete the diploma in as little as one year full-time or up to four years part-time, depending on your previous study, professional experience, and course preferences.

Fees for 2025
An NZQF-listed undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in Business or Management
An undergraduate degree in a related field with a minimum of the equivalent to a B average (as per the Ara-specified 11-point achievement-based grading system), subject to assessment by the programme coordinator.
If English is not your first language, we want to make sure that you will be successful in your chosen programme of study.
- Please provide a result from a test or qualification on the acceptable alternatives English Proficiency Outcomes Chart.
- IELTS scores used must be taken from a single IELTS Test Report Form and are valid for two years from the date of the test.
- Completion of a New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Level 5 with any endorsement)

- Entry Point: If you don’t initially meet the entry requirements for the master’s degree, this qualification allows you to demonstrate your ability to study at a postgraduate level, providing a pathway to the master’s programme.
- Exit Point: If you begin the master’s programme but are unable to complete it, you can transfer applicable courses to the postgraduate diploma, allowing you to achieve a recognised qualification.
