Salon Skills Level 2 (Youth Guarantee)
Prepare for further training or employment in hairdressing or beauty therapy.
Youth Guarantee programmes are FREE* and a great way to learn practical skills and gain a qualification. You can apply for these options if you're 16 to 24 years of age and no longer at school, or you're planning on leaving school.
Designed to give you real insight into the beauty and hair industries, this course provides an introduction to the salon environment and is an ideal launch pad for further training. It covers industry practice, industry safety, image, client and salon support, communication skills and preparation for employment.
Throughout the programme you'll have access to separate training salons for hairdressing and beauty therapy.

If you're a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident and between 16 to 24 years old, you can apply to study if you have left school or are intending to leave school & you have not achieved the equivalent level NCEA qualification at school

Next step programmes include the New Zealand Certificate in Hairdressing (Salon Support)Level 3, New Zealand Certificate in Commercial Barbering Level 4 and the New Zealand Certificate in Beauty Therapy Level 4.
