This scholarship provides for a cash grant for learners studying towards a health-related degree. The objective of this scholarship is to recognise and encourage learners through their final year(s) of a degree.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for one of these scholarships you must:

  • Be a NZ citizen or permanent resident
  • Be studying a full time (part time learners will be considered however they will receive a proportion of the scholarship amount, equal to the level of their part time enrolment) health-related degree programme at Ara Institute of Canterbury
  • Be a woman (assigned female at birth and/or self-identify as female)
  • Have completed at least one year of tertiary education with a B+ average in a health related programme at Ara Institute of Canterbury
  • Be able to demonstrate financial hardship

  • Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Nutrition)
  • Bachelor of Medical Imaging
  • Bachelor of Midwifery
  • Bachelor of Musculoskeletal Health

About Annie Currie

Annie Currie had a joy for life that is rare. She adored anything that looked like an adventure and her delight in life infected many of the people she encountered. Annie passed away in October 2021 aged 71 after a long illness. She willed that her resources should be left to helping young women to educate themselves.

How to Apply

  • Submit an online application form
  • Provide a personal statement (up to 500 words) that outlines the special circumstances that make you a candidate for this scholarship
  • Provide two referee reports which comment on your ability to succeed in this programme and attest to your character. (Please use the template provided below.). One referee should be from a tutor.
  • Provide a copy of your academic transcript to date.
